About
Hi, I'm Ioana.
I'm a maths tutor based in London. I've been tutoring one-on-one since 2022, working with students across KS3, GCSE, IGCSE and A-level, including the Edexcel, AQA and International Edexcel boards. What I love most is the moment a student stops being scared of a topic and starts being curious about it.
Alongside tutoring, I'm a PhD researcher and a university lecturer in engineering, where I've been part of the teaching team since 2021, first as a Teaching Assistant and now leading my own sessions. My teaching has been recognised with award nominations in three consecutive years (2023–2025) and a Rising Star teaching award.
I see my job as creating a space where students feel confident to attempt, to be wrong, and to refine. I'm patient and student-led: I'll meet you where you are, build a plan around your real goals, and adapt as you do. The feedback I hear most often, from students and colleagues alike, is about approachability and the clarity of my explanations.
A bit more about me
Outside the classroom.
When I'm not teaching, I'm usually somewhere with my camera. Exploring the world is one of my passions, and hiking has a special place in it. Climbing Mt Meru in Tanzania was the most rewarding challenge so far. Beyond the mountains I've been on safari in Kenya, lazed on the beaches of Zanzibar, island-hopped across Indonesia, and most recently fell in love with Algeria, as much for the famously sweet Deglet Nour dates as for the people who shared them.
The other half of me is at home, baking, cooking, painting.
